  •  A SMALL-TOWN GIRL RETURNS HOME TO CARE FOR HER COMMUNITY

(DAVID CITY, NEBRASKA, DECEMBER 2023)—Growing up on a small farm near Bellwood, aspirations of taking care of people grew for Rebecca “Becca” Meusch.

While in high school, she worked at St. Joseph’s Villa as a dietary aide and later became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). After graduating from David City High School in 2017, she continued her education at the University of Nebraska in Kearney, graduating in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology-Health Services degree In 2023 she received her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies degree from College of Saint Mary.

“I initially became interested in the health care field after working at St. Joseph’s Villa in high school in David City as a CNA and dietary aide. Unfortunately, due to health reasons, I never got to meet any of my grandparents. This is another major factor that pushed me to join the medical field. I believe that knowledge is power and educating patients and providing health care maintenance is vital for the longevity of families. Family is very important to me and shapes who we are. Therefore, I always thought giving back to a community in health care would be fitting,” said Meusch.

Meusch is now a Physician Assistant at Butler County Clinic, PC. She holds professional memberships with both the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Nebraska Academy of Physician Assistants.

“I love small town life and the values that are instilled. I always knew that I wanted to come back to a rural area to practice medicine. It’s so fulfilling to manage patients and their families here.”

Meusch knew during her rotation at Butler County Clinic that she wanted to practice back in the community she grew up in. “The providers at Butler County Health are a wonderful support system. I am very excited to see familiar faces, give back to my community that raised me, as well as meet new people. Dr. Carlson actually delivered me here at Butler County Health. It’s super exciting to now be able to learn from him!”

January 2, 2024 Meusch will start seeing patients. She has been working with other providers at Butler County Clinic for the past several weeks.

“We are thrilled to have Becca join our team of professionals. She has roots in our community and truly cares about patients,” said Matthew Summers, MD and Clinic President.

Meusch is engaged to get married to Dawson Kouma of Dwight in November. She is the daughter of Ron and Lori Meusch of Bellwood. Ron is retired and Lori is an art teacher at David City Public Schools.

Annual physicals are important because they provide benchmarks to detect changes in health. Generally insurance covers these appointments for free. We would love for your family to get in the habit of getting an exam each year to monitor your children’s growth and confirm body changes as we get older are on track for your specific age. We also utilize this time to discuss and concerns or changes you may have in your health. Early detection does save lives. Call today to schedule an appointment!
